Cognitive Linguistics - (22 July - 2 August 2002)   This course aims to acquaint participants with the main outlines of Ron Langacker's approach to linguistic analysis, description and explanation, known as Cognitive Grammar. The emphasis will be on conveying a comprehensive view of his approach to Linguistic Semantics. In addition, participants should receive sufficient background in the approach that they will be able to read the literature with understanding and use at least some of the notational devices to make their own tentative analyses.
