Meaning and Communication (7 May - 24 May 2002)
The Meaning and Communication course builds on your own knowledge and experience of language, and offers a chance to learn and think about how language works. The course includes insights from recent developments in linguistic theory, such as Text Semantics, Relevance Theory, Lexical Semantics and Scenario and Metaphor. These theoretical approaches are applied to texts and your experience of real language use.
